Before and After: Lazy River

River photo shoot in fall 2018 at the Honey Run Falls outside Millwood, Ohio.

Editing
After doing some basic raw editing using ON1 Photo Raw 2019, I moved to the Effects panel and started with a Color Enhancer filter to make the colors vibrant. Next I used the Color Adjustment filter to bring the blues out in the sky and a warm polarizer filter from the Photo Filter to bump the warmth fall colors. Then I used a texture to darken the river and a simple curves adjustment for contrast. Finally, finished it off with a film border.

Before and After: Welcome!

Along the Kokosing Gap Trail outside of Gambier, Ohio is The Brown Family Environmental Center used for educational purposes on the environment. Biker riders and hikers can enter the gardens at the center by way of this bridge. I shoot this photo using my iPhone 6s Plus and used ON1 Photo Raw for editing.

Editing
I started the editing with a LUTs called LUT Wild West and then applied a simple s-curve in the Curves filter to increase the contrast. I added a Sunshine filter to brighten the photo up. A Tobacco color Photo Filter was applied to give it that brown tone. Then I threw in some Film Grain and added a vintage stain texture I found online. Next comes a Vignette filter followed by a second Curves for further adjustments. Finally, finished off with a sloppy border.

Before and After: Honey Run Park Forest

Editing a shoot I took in fall of 2018 at Honey Run Fall outside Millwood, Ohio, using ON1 Photo Raw 2019.

Editing:
Starting with a Vintage Matte LUTs followed by a Tone Enhancer filter to add contrast. With the Photo Filter, I applied an orange tone and to give it more of an fall style, I used the Fall preset in the Color Enhancer filter. A postcard texture was then added and a round Lens Blur was applied. Then comes a Vignette and finish it off with a sloppy border.

Before and After: In The Army Now

Taking a photo from 2016 shot during a D-Day reenactment, I converted the photo into a vintage black and white using ON1 Photo Raw 2019. I started with the HDR filter, followed by a Black and White filter. To add some sepia color to the photo, I used the Split Tone filter and the Photo Filter. Next comes a film texture and a little lens blur to the top of the photo. A Tone Enhancer was applied to tone down the whites in the bottom half of the photo. A second Tone Enhancer filter was added to brighten the top half of the photo. Another lens blur filter to blur the outer edges and finished off with a camera border.

Goodbye to Google+

Tomorrow, April 2nd, 2019, will be a sad day for me. Google will be shutting down its social media site Google+. G+ was the first social media site I joined. I joined it soon after it came out of beta testing and enjoyed it. I am going to really miss it. Sigh.

Before and After: Oh Little Pond

One of the little features in The Brown Family Environmental Center just outside Gambier, Ohio, is a cute little pond. The pond consist of fish and frogs, and there are chairs to sit back and enjoy the day.

Editing:
Using once again ON1 Photo Raw 2019, I started with a Color Enhancer filter with the Foliage preset to make the greens pop out. Then I applied a Color Adjustment filter to darken the green colors followed by a Photo Filter using the Tobacco preset. Next comes a rounded Lens Blur and a bokeh Texture. I used a Curves filter to add some contrast before finishing it off with a film style border.

Before and After: Once We Get To That Bridge

Returning to the Honey Run Falls outside Millwood, Ohio with this shot of one of the bridges you will find. The original was not exciting and colorful so editing definitely was needed.

Editing:
This time, I used Adobe Photoshop and used the ON1 Photo Raw as a plugin. Opening the photo in Adobe Photoshop as a smart object, then open the ON1 Photo Raw plugin. Inside ON1 Photo Raw, I started with a Color Enhancer filter and applying the Fall preset. Next, a Vintage filter was added suing the Red-Yellow preset to boost the warmth of the photo. To give it some HDR look, I applied the HDR filter with a natural preset. A Lens Blur was then used and I used the brush to paint out the blur in the photo on the bridge and surrounding area to keep only the parts of the photo that I wanted to stay in focus. A crumpled paper texture was added, followed by a simple Vignette filter. Another texture was added, this time a light leak texture, and another texture, this time a bokeh texture on top of that was applied. Finally a film border was used to finish it off. Back in Photoshop, I added a orange-brown fill and set the blend mode to Soft Light, then used a mask to paint in the color around the edge of the photo to complete the effect.
