Photo Art: Bronze Corvette

Another photo converted to art! Using a photo of a Corvette, I used Corel Painter to create two different paintings by using the "Auto-painting" feature which is handy if you are like me can't draw or paint. LOL! Then I used Affinity Photo to merged the paints with the original to create a one of a kind digital art. To do so, I placed the Paint Layer 1 on top of the original, then placed the Paint Layer 2 on top of the first paint layer. Then I changed the blend mode of the Paint Layer 2 to Darker Color. Selecting the two paint layers, I group the two layers and added a mask. I used the mask to paint back in the original photo so parts of the car can still be seen. I then applied a Curve adjustment layer on top to darken the photo art. Finally, I added a cracked metal texture and masked it into certain parts of the photo art to complete the effect.

Here is the look of the various parts of the photo art.

Before and After: Ruins among the Flowers

One of the beautiful things about Ariel-Foundation Park is the old ruins that you can explore. This ruins are great for portrait backgrounds and finding some textures to use in your photo editing.

Editing:
Using ON1 Photo Raw 2019, I did some fine tuning in the Develop panel. Increase contrast, open up the whites and increase the vibrance. Under Effects panel, I used the Tone Enhancer to make the blue sky pop by slightly lowering the exposure, increase contrast a little more, and open the whites a little more as well. Then finish it off with a vignette. That was pretty simply!

New to Affinity Photo? Here is a tips guide for you.

If you are looking for a guide to Affinity Photo with some tips for a beginner, I just happen to come across this downloadable pdf guide from Practical Photography.

Since I stopped using Adobe Photoshop and switched to Affinity Photo, I can honestly say Affinity Photo is worth checking out. It does mean learning a new app but I found it not hard to learn since it basically very much like Photoshop. Once you find where things are at and the tools, it pretty much not much different from Photoshop.

Starting a new Photo Art gallery

I am starting a new gallery on my SmugMug site for photo art. I thought I start exploring converting some of my photos into art using Corel Painter and Affinity Photo.

I mostly using Painter's auto-painting feature to convert a photo into art but I do plan on trying my hand at painting the photo myself in Painter. Once I create a digital painting, I take it into Affinity Photo and blend the painting and the original photo together. Then I do things like adding textures and other adjustments to get the final work.

So, here is what I have do so far with my adventure into the world of photo art:

Photo Art: See Butterfly, Paint Butterfly

Once again, another example of taking a photo and try something creative. With this shoot I took of a simple butterfly on a flower I saw in a garden over the weekend. Using the auto-painting feature in Corel Painter 2020 to create a painting of the photo, then merge it with the original photo in Affinity Photo and finish it off with a texture. What do you think?
